Susan Soderman, LMFT

I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across community mental health, county mental health, and private practice settings. My clinical foundation was built working with individuals experiencing severe emotional disturbance, severe and persistent mental illness, family conflict, and crisis situations, which strengthened my skills in crisis intervention, stabilization, and relational work.

Over time, my work evolved into a deep focus on complex trauma, CPTSD, and recovery from invalidating family systems and abusive relationships. I am passionate about helping people better understand the impact of their experiences, untangle long-standing patterns shaped by shame and survival, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. My approach is warm, direct, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that healing is possible with the right support and insight.

As Coastline Therapy Group has grown, my role has shifted primarily into clinical leadership and operations. I no longer accept new clients and instead focus on supporting and developing our team of clinicians to ensure high-quality, compassionate care throughout the practice. All clinicians at Coastline Therapy Group are in network with insurance plans currently accepted by the practice.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and taking advantage of everything Santa Barbara has to offer. Weekends are usually spent outdoors adventuring with my family. Riding horses has long been one of my greatest passions and favorite ways to recharge.
